This David Vs Goliath style no-holds barred fight appeared to be a complete mismatch, but the smaller man still improvised a clever way to emerge victorious.
This footage is believed to date back to 1996 and took place in a martial arts school with a small crowd of people cheering on from the sidelines.
There was a huge height and weight disparity between the two fighters, with the grappler from West Virginia in the black singlet and shorts, appearing to be a stoutly built heavyweight, while his opponent, a striker from Salt Lake City, is clearly several weight classes below that.
Nevertheless, as the fight begins the smaller man’s superior stand-up skills soon begin to get the better of his opponent, tagging him with a couple of solid straight left’s to the chin.
It doesn’t take long before the bigger man is able to close the distance though, and he immediately seizes on a guillotine choke and drops forward to the mat with it, ending up in his opponent’s closed guard.
The smaller man keeps calm and is gradually able to work his head out of the choke, but he’s still in daunting position, being trapped underneath a man that’s all but twice his size.
This guy is a tough customer though and as his opponent stalls on top he begins to land some punches and elbows from his back.
That’s not going to be enough to stop his opponent though, and so at approximately 2.25mins into the video, the smaller man starts to improvise a different strategy to take the fight to his opponent in an unexpected fashion.
He does so by grabbing a hold of one of the thin singlet shoulder straps that the bigger man is wearing, and pulling it tightly across his neck.
The improvised singlet choke has an almost immediate effect as the bigger man’s breathing becomes more labored and he starts trying to loosen his opponent’s grip, without success.

To add to his woes, the smaller man is also now chipping away at his kidneys with heel strikes, while continuing to keep a tight hold of the choke, and he seems to be at a loss as to how to defend against it.
It’s not long before the big man’s face starts turning red and he’s left gasping for air, leaving him with no choice but to tap out!
