Former UFC Heavyweight Champion and three time King of Pancrase Champion Bas Rutten is a lovable and yet still terrifying man who is capable to making you laugh your ass off or rendering you unconscious and bleeding, with horrific injuries that may last the rest of your life. He’s just that kind of guy – one of a kind and one of MMA’s greatest personalities.

Undefeated in his last 22 bouts and star of some of the greatest bar fight tutorials known to man, the former doorman and bouncer turned professional fighter turned mixed martial arts commentator has dedicated his life to self-defense, personal protection and martial arts.

When examining a man such as the inimitable Bas Rutten, it’s natural to questions just what kind of bodily damage he is capable of inflicting on an opponent or attacker. That’s where science comes in.

In this video, brought to us by Fight Science, a show that aired on the National Geographic Channel in which scientists and martial arts masters worked together to analyze the world’s many fighting techniques, to compare the disciplines and to find out which one has the strongest punches, kicks and deadliest weapons.

With a punch that delivers what has been measured at over 1,300 pounds of force, Bas El Guapo Rutten shows that his strikes are so devastating that he is very much capable of causing lacerations to one’s internal organs or, more specifically in this case, one’s spleen, that are so severe they may result in death if left untreated.
