Someone who trains in martial arts is generally going to have quite a sizable advantage over someone who has zero training.

Though the title in the following video hints at the martial arts practitioner being a ‘professional’ that’s a bit of a stretch as he’s a clear novice, though some training is always better than none.

Nevertheless, the guys in the body armor look like a samurai minus the cool sword and though the pads may lessen the damage as well as the pain of incoming strikes, they are quite thin and surely don’t absorb 100%.

The guy wearing the pads is most definitely going to feel the strikes and is probably going to regret agreeing to letting someone tee off on him tomorrow morning.

First of all, the first guy in the bodysuit has zero idea how to move effectively in a combat situation and it’s actually quite frustrating to watch. He simply stands around stationary, essentially waiting to be hit. Had he possessed even a little self-defense knowledge he would have known that a moving target is harder to hit than a stationary one and moving while not getting hit would have drained the clock as well.

The second guy doesn’t fair much better. Though he at least moves a little more he is still very clueless when it comes to defense. The ‘pro’ also looks to be quite sloppy this round and far from the skill level that a pro level fighter should possess.

Defensive skills in fighting are just as important as offensive skills. Wearing a thin suit of armor and taking a beating may make for an entertaining video but it doesn’t make for great training. The only way you find out what truly is effective is when both parties are trying to win as well as fully resisting to their opponents attacks.
