Women’s MMA has only been around for a few years now, but some fighters already have emerged above the rest.

Mixed martial arts fans love women’s bouts for various reasons. Women are as tough and skilled as men, and women’s MMA have delivered numerous unforgettable moments throughout its short history. Many female fighters have made a huge impact on MMA, but only a handful of them make it to the elite level. Let’s take a look at the 5 female MMA fighters at the top of the mountain.

5) Holly Holm

Holly ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ Holm is famous for her stunning KO victory against Ronda Rousey, which is a huge feat in itself.

One of the best stand up fighters in the history of women’s MMA, the former UFC champion still want to make big waves in the sport.

4) Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino

Brazilian fighter Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino is an iconic figure of Women’s MMA. She is the current Invicta FC Featherweight champion, and is feared by all of her opponents because of the ferocious fighting style she loves to display. Justino’s legacy has been tainted by a positive drug test result in 2011; nonetheless, she remains of the most feared and skilled fighters in Women’s MMA history.

3) Miesha Tate

Few people can be considered true pioneers of the sport; Miesha ‘Cupcake’ Tate is one of them. An experienced veteran, Tate has captured the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title by submitting Holly Holm at UFC 196, which is her biggest achievement to date.

2) Ronda Rousey

UFC superstar Ronda Rousey is one of the greatest female MMA fighters to grace the Octagon. Before losing her title against Holly Holm, Rousey was on a killer 12-fight win streak. Most of her UFC bouts averaged less than a minute in length. She was the ‘Mike Tyson of Women’s MMA’.

Rousey is also well known for being outspoken and she has had a media presence almost no one in MMA history experienced, man or woman. A true pioneer, Rousey can be largely credited with making Women’s MMA as popular as it is nowadays.

1) Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is the living proof that 115-pound ladies can be f**king devastating. Jedrzejczyk is hands down the best striker in Women’s MMA. Her technique is crisp, brutal, and a treat to watch. She is the current Women’s Strawweight champ of the world, and she gained that title by brutally mauling then-champ Carla Esparza. Jedrzejczyk is a tiny tornado of raw violence who possesses surreal takedown defense and elite striking.

At only 28 she is already among the top pound-for-pound fighters in the UFC today. Believe me, you don’t want to miss a fight of this truly amazing fighter.
