Size matters when it comes to fighting, let’s face it. With all else being equal, a bigger guy is generally going to have an advantage over the smaller man in terms of strength as well as being able to absorb and deliver the harder shots.

What kind of weight is important as well though too as just carrying around a lot of fat is only going to slow you down and impede your mobility. The same could be said regarding too much muscle too although at least with muscle you are going to have some strength.

Though the following video is entitled ‘martial artist vs fat guy’, it’s important to note that actually both guys come from martial arts backgrounds. The commentators refer to the big guy who is named Fred ‘The Mangler’ Floyd as having a red belt in ‘grappling’ but he really comes from a traditional martial arts background – a style called ‘Budokan Kung-Fu’, whatever that is.

His opponent, the much smaller Dennis Crouweel is from the Netherlands where he has a background in muay Thai, but early on in the fight it is the 340lb Fred Floyd who wins the battle of the leg kicks as one kick from the big man knocks the smaller man clear out of the ring.

The two get locked up in the clinch shortly after that with ‘The Mangler’ tying up his smaller opponent and landing some good body shots before hurling him to the ground.

From there, the big guy passes his smaller opponent’s wide open half guard, or ‘half mount’ as the commentators refer to it as.

The fight ends shortly thereafter when the big guy simply grabs him and smothers him from mount, almost like a bear hug on the ground. His smaller opponent doesn’t know what to do and is forced to tap out.
