Not often do you see a street fight ended with a perfectly executed technique. But don’t tell the young man in this video that, this Taekwondo fighter had a nasty surprise in store for his opponent.

The video begins with the two combatants squaring off and preparing to fight. From the title we know we have one fighter, the man with no shirt on, who is billed as a street fighter. Fighter number two, the man with the black shirt, is billed as a taekwondo (TKD) fighter.

After the combatants circle each other in a short feeling out process, the TKD fighter then lands a kick to the hip area of the street fighter. The street fighter then circles and backs up as the TKD fighter follows. A quick feint from the street fighter before he steps back and stops flat footed. Becoming a (mostly) stationary and flat footed target is a recipe for disaster against any striker. The TKD fighter then lined up his shot and landed a beautiful spinning back kick right to the liver of his opponent. The street fighter immediately crumbles and admits defeat.

Blunt force to the liver can be excruciatingly painful, and an especially effective shot will incapacitate a person. Thus, in combat sports, liver shots often result in technical knockouts (TKOs). (Wikipedia).

For another example, check out the main event of UFC Fight Night 58: Machida vs. Dollaway, on 12/20/14. Machida wins the fight by TKO at 1:02 of Round 1. The combination that led to the referee stoppage was started by a kick to the liver. Dollaway spoke about the kick at the post-fight presser: Basically just a body kick, I thought he was going to go to my head, and he slipped it under my elbow, thought I had it covered, took a step back, went to take a breath and couldn’t, was basically paralyzed.
