Pro MMA fighter, ‘Level’, in a backyard brawl – ends in TKO!

Backyard brawler turned professional MMA fighter, Rene ‘Level’ Martinez takes on ‘Silvio’ in this bare-knuckle fight, promoted by Dada 5000.

That Rene ‘Level’ Martinez has become a street champion and MMA fighter rather than a lifelong resident of the state penitentiary is something of a miracle.

The son of an abusive father and dissolute mother, he has rumbled with enemies on South Beach and Coconut Grove streets, terrorized motorists who cut him off, thrown rocks and bottles at occupied moving vehicles, beaten up a girlfriend, and even shot at a rival outlaw in broad daylight. His arrest record reads like a thug diary. “I didn’t care about anything,” Martinez admits. “Period.”

Today, Martinez has turned to God and reconciled with his mother. His goal: Become a professional mixed martial arts fighter. “I want to show the world how I turned a negative into a positive,” he says.

Indeed, Martinez was recently recruited by Team Nogueira, the Miami-based MMA training academy that produced Anderson Silva, the current UFC middleweight champion. [source : miaminewtimes.com]

With a record of 21 arrests and public notoriety amongst Miami Police and gang task force units, Martinez eventually turned his violent behavior and talent for fighting into an Internet sensation with his backyard fights.

Combined with personal documentary clips and recent interview footage, The Warrior Level tells the story of the gangster turned professional fighter and his struggle to abandon his past in order to create a better future for his daughter and family.

Rising in ranks, fellow mentor and pro MMA fighter Kimbo Slice is quoted as saying that Level will do better than me with his newly discovered professional career in MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).

“I want to show the world how I turned a negative into a positive,” Martinez says. I don’t think anything is gonna bring be down. I’m focused, ready, and I’m gonna go for it. [source : filmproposals.com]
