In This video we see a rare spinning Taekwondo technique end a fight just 3 seconds in.

Taekwondo techniques are among the rarer disciplines we see today in MMA and Kickboxing, it is almost seen as a niche sport and true world class practitioners are few and far between.

Certain Taekwondo techniques, in particular the kicks have proven to be extremely effective in K1 and MMA with some of the biggest and best fighters in history adopting them into their arsenal. Legend Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic and MMA great Anderson The Spider Silva have both shown the devastating effect these techniques can have on an opponent.

Former UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Showtime Pettis may be the best example of a pure Taekwondo striker. Pettis has and continues to have, great success with the art. The wide bouncing stance, straight punches and unpredictable kicks are all classic traits of a taekwondo striker and can cause extreme difficulty for opponents who aren’t familiar with the style.

In this video we see K1 striker and 3 times European champion Michael Smolik finish his opponent Tihamer Brunner in a record 3 seconds after landing a devastating Taekwondo kick so rare, we have yet to see it in the UFC or a major kickboxing promotion.

In the video, we hear the bell ring before both men touch gloves in the centre of the ring. Immediately after the show of respect, Smolik throws a jumping spin kick to his opponent’s body, landing perfectly. Brunner is badly hurt and punches the ground in frustration as he repeatedly fails to rise from the referees count. The count reaches ten and Michael Smolik sets a record with a 3 second knockout over Tihamer Brunner.

Although techniques like this can be incredibly risky and rare to pull off, this video shows the devastation caused if one is successfully landed.
