The critically acclaimed HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones has given us some of the most epic, memorable, dramatic and often brutal fight sequences in recent years, with shocking plot twists and endings occurring to every beloved character in the series.

In the following featurette we get to see behind the scenes of the season 4 weaponry training that the titular characters had to undertake as well as well as the thought process behind the design of some of the series most iconic weaponry wielded by the likes of Arya Stark, The Hound, The Wildlings and Jon Snow.

Rory McGann who plays the infamous Hound, discussed the differences from training and bringing those skills to the final take and the outdoor sets.

We were training on sprung floors in a tent, well that was fine but you come out (to the rocky terrain) and there’s slopes, mountains, we’re up in the hills and the rock (is volcanic). It’s hard core.

About Game of Thrones:
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, the first of which is titled A Game of Thrones.

The series is set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, and interweaves several plot lines with a large ensemble cast. The first narrative arc follows a civil war among several noble houses for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms; the second covers the attempts to reclaim the throne by the exiled last scion of the realm’s deposed ruling dynasty; the third chronicles the rising threat of the impending winter and the legendary creatures and fierce peoples of the North.
