As any martial arts fan with insomnia can tell you, late night martial arts and weapons demos can be a thing of both beauty and bemusement. Often found on secondary sports channels in the wee hours of the morning, karate masters smash bricks and weapon specialists duel it out with an intensity that can be embarrassingly addictive to watch.

Carrying on the tradition of intense martial arts choreography, two teens recently featured on the TV show Ukraine’s Got Talent came inches away from spilling each other’s blood on stage, much to the awe of the crowd and judges watching live.

Ukraine’s Got Talent or Ukrayina maye talent as it is written in Ukrainian is a spinoff of the popular American TV show America’s Got Talent, which is currently in its 11th season. The American show features celebrity judges such as Simon Cowell and Howard Stern who critique performers from around the nation. Contestants compete for a chance to win a $1 million prize and the right to call themselves the most talented individual in America (at least until the next season of the show begins).

Ukraine’s Got Talent is based on the Got Talent format, with the winner taking home an advertised top prize of 1,000,000 Ukrainian hryvnia according to the show’s Wikipedia page.

Set to Papa Roach’s hit song Last Resort, the young weapons specialists seen in the video put on an impressive back-and-forth performance mimicking a real duel, with one performer brandishing a polearm and the other swinging wildly at his opponent with two swords.
