Steven Seagal is a man of many talents. An Aikido master holding 7th Dan rank, an action star, a screenwriter, a producer, director, musician, dancer, reserve deputy sheriff, entrepreneur, an animal rights activist, an environmentalist, friend of Vladimir Putin, a reincarnated 17th century Tibetan Buddhist, an energy drink maker, coach to the UFC’s Top stars such as Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida, trainer to the Serbian Special Forces, maker of aftershave, a Russian Firearms spokesman and the 1999 Peta Humanitarian award.

Despite his long list of ventures and accolades he still remains a man shrouded in myth and mystery but also manages to get involved in controversy.

He has had numerous stories come out regarding his behaviour on the sets of movies including groin kicking unsuspecting actors and stuntmen to the infamous Gene Lebell incident to straight up lawsuits regarding his conduct with past actors and his TV show ‘Steven Seagal’s Lawman’ regarding damages and then of course there’s the claim he invented the front kick used by Anderson Silva to defeat Vitor Belfort.

In the following clip, actor Rob Schneider goes on the record on the Howard Stern show sharing numerous stories about Steven Seagal on various film projects in the past. One of which includes Steven Seagal’s screen writing abilities.

There’s a writer that I know, he was meeting Steven Seagal for the rewrite of ‘Under Seige II’. And so he goes into (his) trailer and he’s waiting in there for 45 minutes, sitting there by himself.

Finally Steven Seagal emerges from one of the other rooms in the mobile home and he comes out and said I just read the greatest script I’ve ever read in my life.

Really who wrote it? the writer replied.

I did.
