In his storied career mixed martial arts career former Pride Heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko has fought a wide spectrum of styles and conquering almost all of them. They have ranged from Olympic medallists in wrestling and judo, K-1 World Grand Prix champions, multiple former UFC heavyweight champions, literal giant human beings, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black belts and even the odd pro wrestler.
So what would happen if the greatest heavyweight mixed martial artist we’ve ever seen stepped out of the mixed martial arts arena and into the Sumo pit?

Well in 2012 Fedor took a break from MMA and participated in the Ultimate Sumo Championship facing off against Maegashira 9 ranked Sumo wrestler Shinichi Suzukawa in what would be a Sambo vs Sumo bout to determine which martial art would reign supreme in the pit?
Though it was not quite the Ultimate Fighting Champion this would be close enough for the fans right?
With both fighters coming out in the traditional sumo garb (though Fedor still opted to wear shorts underneath) they wasted no time starting the match and after a few tense seconds the last Pride heavyweight champion succumbs to the pressure of Shinichi Suzukawa and is pushed to the floor at the edge of the pit giving the sumo stylist the victory.
Perhaps they will have a rematch under mixed martial arts rules at the next Rizin event in June?
