Xtreme Fighting Championships, the East Coasts largest MMA promotion will venture to North Carolina for the first time in the promotions history. Originally based in Tampa, Florida where they completed their first 7 shows, the promotion which continues to draw more and more attention from the MMA community, is burning through an East Coast tour in 2012. After three shows in Tennessee, XFC’s next stop will be in Charlotte for XFC 19: Charlotte Showdown on Friday August 3rd. As the promotion ventures into new stomping grounds, they have lined up some of the most well-known and exciting fighters on their roster for Carolina MMA fans. The card already features fan favorites Felice Herrig and undefeated Nick Newell. Also announced this week, two 2012 XFC signees will meet in the main event. Corey Hill and Jason South will clash in a welterweight bout that could decide the number one contender in the XFC’s 170 pound division. In the Co-Main Event of the evening, the beautiful and talented Felice Herrig will make her third appearance in the XFC cage when she takes on Simona Soukupova of the United Kingdom. Soukupova brings a 2-1 record in, as the challenger, with both of her wins coming by way of TKO. Herrig, who now ranks in the Top 10 of the Strawweight division world-wide, will look to continue her dominance and position herself for a possible 2013 XFC title fight. In addition to the co-main bout, XFC 19 will showcase a Lightweight fight between the inspirational Nick Newell and David Mays. Newell is coming off a win over Chris Coggins, in what was an ESPN Top Ten worthy performance at XFC 17. Mays is coming off of a victory in May 2012 and eager to get back in the cage. As is custom for the XFC, the card will also feature some of the Charlotte area’s top rising talents. Joe Elmore will face off with undefeated Kevin Forant, Shane Crenshaw will face XFC Open Fighter Tryout Winner Jason Hicks, Roger Carroll will showdown with XFC vet Nicolae Cury, and Joseph Carroll and Ricky Rainey will both put undefeated records on the line, when they collide in Charlotte.
