Event notes

The Fight Club will celebrate its first anniversary this month with its 5th and final show for 2008, TFC5 ARMAGEDDON Friday December 5th 8:00 PM at the Shaw Conference Centre. The show will feature our first TFC championship matches with titles in two classes. We have a total of nine bouts scheduled including a first for TFC, a female MMA matchup with Edmonton’s Jackie Mikalsky taking on Victoria BC’s Meghan Williams. Meghan Williams has a boxing and kickboxing background, she will be making her MMA debut. Her opponent Jackie Mikalsky trains with Dragon MMA here in Edmonton and is a black belt Sikarin with over 10 years experience, she also is making her MMA debut. Mark Sawka takes on Justin Carpenter both 1-0, heavyweights Bill Mesi and Ben Borger will meet they are both 2-0, in one of our featured bouts James McCutcheon of Edmonton 3-0 fights Jordan McKay of Calgary 2-0 and Todd Mabbott undefeated at 2-0 battles tough Jason Gorny. In our other two featured bouts we have a veteran with over 20 fights including back to back wins for the The Fight Club, TFC Lightweight contender Chris “The Crippler” Ade as he takes on another Edmonton veteran making his TFC debut, Mike Bell. And no TFC fight card would be complete without the “Quiet Assassin” TFC star Nick Penner, as he will take on Luc Desautels in a super-heavyweight contest. In association with Frank Lees Free Fight Promotions, The Fight club has been featuring Free Fight Kickboxing bouts (Muay Thai in a cage) and we have a great matchup Friday night for the TFC Canadian FFK welterweight championship. Our co-main event will feature Levi Kump of Edmonton against Aaron Castellvi of Toronto. A year ago, last December at our first show TFC1, Victor Bachman won the CBF Canadian MMA Welterweight title and now in our ARMAGEDDON main event Friday night, he will be defending that title and will be making a bid to become “The Fight Clubs” first Canadian MMA champion. His opponent Friday night will be “The Prince” Claude Patrick of Toronto. Claude who has an impressive record of 7-1 will be making his second appearance for The Fight Club. Claude submitted Dan Chambers in 51 seconds back at TFC3 in May and now steps in to challenge the champion at 170 lbs.
