(12/09/08 – Akron, OH) – The 2009 NAAFS National Amateur Series will launch on Saturday January 10th from the Chapparell’s Community Center in Akron, OH. It will be a combination of familiar names and new blood introduced to the series, will all of these men beginning the trek towards the National Amateur finals in December. In the main event, it will be the long awaited return of 2007 National Amateur finalist Dominque Vanest (4-1), as he steps back inside the cage for the first time in over a year. After being sidelined with an injury, Vanest is determined to prove that he belongs with the best in the Light Heavyweight division. He will have that opportunity at Midwest Combat Challenge 6, when takes on Jason Fragoso 4-0 from Team Energetics. A win over Vanest would make Fragoso an early favorite in National Amateur Light Heavyweight division. In other action, “Drucifer” Dru Schottenheimer (3-0) looks to remain unbeaten when he takes on Travis Combs (4-2) of Sacan MMA. Plus Jason Wolfe (7-1) of Team Jorge Gurgel is back in action when he takes on Akron’s own Dan Gale (3-3) of Pain Headquarters.
