Event notes

The 2012 Olympic Games won’t feature mixed martial arts, but that isn’t stopping Tuff-N-Uff from welcoming two-time gold medalist Chris Mullin as a special guest to the nation’s leading amateur MMA promotion’s next event. On Friday, July 6, “Tuff-N-Uff: The Future Stars of MMA” returns to Las Vegas’ South Point Arena for the promotion’s latest “FESTIBRAWL, featuring live music, free beer sampling and gourmet food trucks. Mullin, a five-time NBA All-Star who won a gold medals representing USA Basketball in 1984, as well as a part of the 1992 Dream Team, will be on hand to watch the fights and sign autographs, as well as engage in a pre-event shoot-around. “There’s always something fun to do in Las Vegas, but July is shaping up to be a truly historic month,” . “Additionally, we’re planning on having three championship fights on the card, and Jeff Shamrock, the son of UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock, will also fight on July 6. We’ve got a few more tricks up our sleeves that I look forward to sharing in the next few weeks, but it’s already shaping up to be an incredible night.” In one of the night’s featured fights, Tuff-N-Uff flyweight champ Tolin Garcia (2-0) defends his title for the first time against the man he beat for the belt, Art Nicholas (2-2). “These two put on a fantastic show in their first match, and while Tolin won by submission, Art was frustrated he let things slip away in the third round,” Meyer said. “Art wanted a second chance to prove he should be champion, and Tolin insisted he could prove to the world his win was no fluke. After their first matchup, we decided we just had to do this one again.” Additionally, Tuff-N-Uff has a 4 women 125lb tournament scheduled with some women from some of the best gyms that will move on to compete for the title on August 18th at the Casa Blanca hotel in Mesquite, NV. In addition to the night’s featured contests, a full lineup of aspiring amateur fighters from some of the world’s top academies – including Cobra Kai, One Kick Nick’s, Reign Training Center, TapouT, Throwdown, Wand Fight Team and Xtreme Couture – will compete at Tuff-N-Uff’s July 6 event. Tickets for Tuff-N-Uff’s July 6 “FESTIBRAWL,” are on sale at SouthPointArena.com now and are available by calling (702) 797-8273. The evening’s pre-party starts at 6:30 p.m., and the first fight is at 7:30pm. The full fight card is available for viewing at TuffNUff.com. Come see the future stars of mixed martial arts!
