Prior to his fight on the main card of UFC 252 on Saturday night, former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos believed he was close, just a few wins away, from a title shot. However, JDS, now 36, got TKO’d in two by Jairzinho Rozenstruik. He has now lost three fights in a row in the past year, all by TKO, in an average time of 5 minutes and 21 seconds.

In his final question at the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White was asked if it was time for JDS to think about retirement, if it was time for JDS to get The Talk that preceded the retirement of greats like Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, Big Nog, and Forrest Griffin.

“Yah, I obviously gotta,” replied White, before a long pause. “I don’t like to do stuff like that tonight but go home, think about it, take a weekend and then matchmaking is on Tuesday and then we think for JDS. He is the nicest guy in the world, love that guy … yah.”

Dos Santos, ever graceful, released a grateful message in Portuguese and English to the fans, from his hotel room.
