At the DWCS 30 post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White announced that the property containing The UFC PI, UFC Apex, and corporate headquarters, is expanding.

I don’t even know if you guys know this, but f*** it, I’ll tell you anyway, said White. We just bought 10 acres over here, too. We’ve got another 10 acres now. More stuff coming soon.

We’re going to build our own hotel. We’ll be completely self-sufficient.

It will be more designed for fighters. Just like the Apex was designed for fighting and putting on special events, this place would be designed exactly for what our needs are in a hotel.

White has said repeatedly that he advises other sports leagues that creating a bubble around the event is central to holding live events during the COVID-19 global pandemic. On Fight Island the Abu Dhabi government spent many tens of millions of dollars to create a 10 square mile bubble free of the virus. For the events in Vegas, the UFC takes over an entire Holiday Inn or Residence Inn to protect staff and fighters; that effort would obviously be very much easier if you own your own hotel.

Obviously with what’s going on right now, our own hotel would pay for itself real quickly, said White, who hopes to have the UFC hotel operational in 2021.
