UFC 258: Usman vs. Burns will be held on February 13, 2021 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It’s generally impossible to predict how compelling a UFC card will be, but this one is short of notable fights, as evidenced by the co-main. The second-to-last fight of the evening is #10 women’s strawweight Maycee Barber vs. #15 Alexa Grasso. In her last fight, Barber saw her perfect 8-0 record broken by Roxanne Modafferi. Grasso is 3-3 her last six. The main card also features Julian Marquez, who is coming off a loss and doesn’t have a Wikipedia page, vs. Maki Pitolo, who is on a two-fight losing streak to unranked fighters, and is 4-5 his last nine fights. These are not the kind of fights the UFC should be asking its fans to pay $70 for.
However, the main event is awesome. Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman is undefeated in eight years, and in his third title defense is coming off wins over a murder’s row of Demian Maia, Rafael dos Anjos, Tyron Woodley, Colby Covington, and Jorge Masvidal. Brazil’s Gilbert Burns is on a six-fight streak, has won performance bonuses in each of his last wins, over Maia and Woodley
