UFC 256: Figueiredo vs. Moreno will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. The official weigh-ins will stream live from the arena on The UnderGround for two hours, beginning at Noon ET (9:00 a.m. local time).
In the main event, flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo defends his belt for the second time, vs. Brandon Moreno. There will be a little drama, as when “Figgy Smalls” first fought for the belt vacated by Henry Cejudo, he missed weight, and although he beat Joseph Benavidez via TKO in Round 2, the title remained vacant. That was in February. At the rematch in July, Figueiredo choked out Benavidez in Round 1. On November 21, Figueiredo guillotined Alex Perez in 117 seconds. Now, just 21 days later, Figueiredo defends again, in the shortest span between title defenses ever in UFC history. Moreno is on a three-fight win streak.
In the co-main event, Tony Ferguson looks to bounce back from his TKO loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 in May for the interim lightweight championship. “El Cucuy” will face Charles Oliveira, who is on a seven-fight win streak. With the division in confusion over champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s apparently MMA retirement, and Conor McGregor returning vs. Dustin Porier on January 23, a win is critical for the title shot hopes of both fighters.
