Ngannou KOs dos Santos in the first round!

The main event of the UFC on ESPN 3 featured a heavyweight bout between former champion Junior Dos Santos and top contender Francis Ngannou. The event took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN, and air exclusively on ESPN.

Francis Ngannou might just be the scariest fighter in mixed martial arts history.

On Saturday night, the ferocious knockout artist lived up to his reputation once again, needing just 71 seconds to demolish former champion Junior dos Santos to notch his third straight first round knockout.

The end came after both heavyweights opened the fight with a series of leg kicks but once dos Santos got within Ngannou’s boxing range, it was over in a matter of seconds.

Junior moves a lot so the goal was to slow him down, make him not move a lot and then strike, Ngannou said after the win. Of course it gives me some confidence but before that, I was already confident. Because Junior is a striker, he is a boxer and I believe I’m the best boxer in this division.

Round 1 – Ngannou pops the leg to start. Another one. Dos Santos surges forward and almost draws a check left hook. A leg kick from Dos Santos sweeps Ngannou off his feet, and Ngannou goes on the hunt. Body shot from Dos Santos, and Ngannou slams Dos Santos with a right hand. They trade leg kicks, and Dos Santos misses on a right hand, and Ngannou drops him with a counter right, then another one. Dos Santos, on his knees, is going nowhere, and Ngannou is pounding on him. Seeing no intelligent defense, Dean steps in to stop the fight.
