Nate Diaz: I’m out of UFC 244 main event for USADA violation

Tonight UFC welterweight Nate Diaz tweeted he had been notified of an anti-doping violation by USADA and will be out his UFC 224 bout versus Jorge Masivdal.

The bout was scheduled to be the main event of UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden and was for the promotion’s first ever ‘BMF’ title. As of yet, there has been no official announcement from the promotion, but it’s unlikely Diaz’s tweet was meant in jest. There has also been no official statement from USADA either. Opponent Jorge Masvidal however tweeted support of Diaz and believes the two may still fight on November 2nd:

It is still unclear if Masvidal will stay on the card versus a replacement fight and if so, against whom. The Underground has been speculating as to who could step in to fight Masvidal on two weeks notice. The dream scenario of course would involve former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor stepping in who recently revealed he was hoping to fight in December, but the more likely case could be that top contender Leon Edwards would be offered the fight.
