MMA reacts to Miragliotta’s Jacare vs. Weidman stoppage
Dan Miragliotta finally stepped in, whereupon Jacare tapped the ref’s shoulder and made a universal gesture for WHAT THE F@$%.
‘Jacare’ Souza, 38, showed improved striking, particularly in head movement, vs. former division champion Chris Weidman at UFC 230 on Saturday night. And it paid off in Round 3 when he knocked The All American stiff and down.
Jacare is a gentleman and declined to follow up. Referee Dan Miragliotta indicated the fight was not over, and under protest Jacare continued to hit his opponent before the official finally stepped in, whereupon Jacare tapped the ref’s shoulder and made a universal gesture for WHAT THE F@$%.

Commentator Joe Rogan called it as he saw it.
“Dan said it’s not stopped yet,” said Rogan, as transcribed by Brendan Bradford for Sporting News. “He hit him again and clearly, Jacare was correct there.”
UFC president Dana White concurred.
“I think Jacare was a stud at the end,” said White. “He knew he was out and didn’t need to take any more punishment. I have a lot of respect for guys who do that. You see guys get into trouble who do that, and the fight doesn’t end. But you could tell by the way Weidman fell that the fight was over.”
