USADA had one guy that they had to get anti-doping tests correct for – Brock Lesnar – and they failed to do it right.

Reports surfaced recently on the social network that there was a discrepancy in the number of times Lesnar was reported to have been tested. Late last week the reported number dropped from six to five, without explanation.

USADA spokesperson Adam Woullard finally issued a statement:

USADA updates the Athlete Test History page of the UFC/USADA website on a weekly basis. During an update on the week of October 15th, we experienced a technical issue that resulted in the information on the page being displayed incorrectly. The correct test history for the athlete is 1 test, not 2. The issue has been fixed and the testing numbers on the website are all accurate. We are still investigating the specific technical issue that led to the error.

Specifically, during the week of October 15, Lesnar drug tests to date went from four to six, and should have gone from four to five.

The explanation was backed up by the responsible, reliable, and transparent UFC vice president of athlete health and performance Jeff Novitzky, who said he has all the confidence in the world that USADA is testing Lesnar appropriately.

I have access to a more specific database than the public, which displays the date a sample is collected, what type of sample it is and what the results are as soon as they are available, said Novitzky to Brett Okamoto for ESPN. to Marc Raimondi for MMA Fighting. The public website, as I understand it, indicated there had been two tests during this last quarter, and it recently dropped to one. I have always seen one test in this quarter for Lesnar. It was a urine test and it came back negative.

Given how stringent USADA is with fighters, there should be some sanction for this error, but there isn’t. That illustrates one of the central problems with USADA – when they make mistakes, they do so with impunity.
