Two-time Olympic Gold medalist in Judo and PFL lightweight champion Kayla Harrison has been subjected to unfounded rumors on the social network about performance enhancing drug use. During a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Harrison responded.
Can we talk about this for a second,” she said. “It really hurts my feelings. I mean, it doesn’t hurt my feelings, but it just gets under my skin. Everyone’s always like, ‘You should take this as a compliment. You should take it as a compliment that people think you’re on steroids.’ And I’m like, ‘Are you reading the things that they say? They are calling me a man. They are calling me Brock Lesnar.’
I’m like, ‘first of all, I’ve been literally tested by the USADA since the age of 13. They came to my middle school because I was on the national roster for Judo when I was 13. I did my first Olympic trial when I was 14. I’ve been drug tested by USADA since I was 13 years old. And I didn’t always look like this by the way. I remember, before I started Judo, there was a picture of me – I was a little kid. And I was kinda of like a little butterball. I wasn’t fat, but I was like, you know, a little chubby. And I was like six or seven in the picture. And then I started doing Judo and I loved Judo. I wanted to go all the time. I loved everything about it.
“And literally, there’s a picture of me, I don’t know, it’s from my 10th birthday or something. My birthday is in July. And I’m in a bikini, a little girl bikini. And I’ve got traps, and I’ve got biceps, and I’m this jacked little kid. I developed these muscles over years of training.
I really want to contact USADA and I want to be like, ‘Hey, can I get a record of all of my tests I’ve ever taken. Is it possible? Like, do you have one. Can I have that? Can I get a record of that? Because you must have it.’ Because I really want to post it up, you know?
Because the PFL canceled their 2020 season due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, Harrison’s last fight was a Round 2 TKO over Courtney King at featherweight at Invicta FC 43 on November 20.
