UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, his manager Ali Abdelaziz, former champ champ Henry Cejudo, former interim welterweight Colby Covington, UFC president Dana White, and USA president Donald Trump recently took a photo together at a rally. During the UFC 254 media day, Gaethje said the scene was peaceful, but that Covington later said something, which was not detailed, and there be no Christmas cards this year.
The day after that [rally], I was singing his praises because of how professional he was and how he held himself, said Gaethje. But then he went onto do a bunch of interviews and I probably despise that man more than anybody on planet Earth, other than like child pedophiles and murderers and things like that.
He is a coward – he’s a fake person/ He stands there and acts like this soft-hearted dude, and then he gets behind the camera and he’s a total coward and a fake person. I’ve never met someone as fake as Colby Covington.
As a man, I would love to slap him right across the face.
Despite whatever Covington said that offended him, Gaethje was meeting the president was impressive.
Trump is a huge fan of MMA, said Gaethje. He’s a reason, maybe not a huge reason, but he’s a reason that UFC is here. He opened his doors for us when we had no doors to walk through.
Meeting the President of the United States, it doesn’t matter, it could have been [Barack] Obama, it could have been Trump, if I meet the President of the United States … I’m from a very small town, a very small place from hard working people, we respect the President of the United States as our leader. So it was really cool. It was a really cool opportunity for me, for my family, for my town to get to have that experience.
