Former UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk spoke recently with Tom Taylor on SCMP‘s Post Fight podcast, and discussed, among other things, fellow Pole and UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. The two have known each other for over decade, through the Muay Thai scene in Poland.

Blachowicz won the UFC light heavyweight title vacated by Jon Jones who is moving up a division, via a Round 2 KO of Dominick Reyes. Next up for “Prince of Cieszyn” is middleweight champion Israel Adesanya who is moving up for a title challenge at UFC 259 on March 6, 2021.

Jan Blachowicz, he was on fire [against Reyes], said Jedrzejczyk. I could see that. I’ve known Jan for like 15 years, and even a few days before the fight, I called Jan and I could see the difference. I feel like he’s just getting stronger physically and more importantly, mentally. You can’t stop this. I can see that change in Jan.

Jedrzejczyk considers Blachowicz a close friend, but she’s a fan of Adesanya, too, and tells Taylor that she can see the fight going either way.

“I love Adesanya, Jedrzejczyk said. I love seeing him fighting. Jan has more to lose, and Adesanya has nothing to lose. [Adesanya is] the champ in a different weight class – a lower class – and he’s going to fight for Jan’s belt. Jan is bigger, stronger.

It’s going to be a very interesting match-up. Jan has his power behind his punches, his liver kicks, but you know Adesanya is so flexible, so unpredictable.

What do you think UG? Who do you think think wins Blachowicz vs. Adesanya. And are long as we are talking superfights, who do you think wins Jon Jones vs. the winner of the Francis Ngannou vs. Stipe Miocic rematch at UFC 249 on May 9, 2020?
