At UFC 253 on September 27, 2020, UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya successfully defended his unified belt for the second time, TKOing Paulo Costa in Round 2, and pushing his record to 20-0. Then he mimed humping Costa and ran to his opponent’s corner, and mimed ejaculating on them. It wasn’t out of character.

“The Last Stylebender” debuted at UFC 221 early in 2018, and after TKOing Rob Wilkinson, he mimed peeing all over the Octagon. UFC management was reportedly not impressed, but Adesanya defended the move during an appearance on The Top Turtle podcast.

“How I see it is, f***, what are the sponsors worried about? Me pretending to whip an imaginary dick out and pee everywhere to mark my territory or just watching me just beat the f*** out of a dude? Now Adesanya is back at it.

I’m probably having my first child around June 2021. Yaaaaay!!” he tweeted, adding, “Do the math … I’m not paying child support either!

•Cutting edge marketing move!
•It must really suck right now to be Paulo Costa!!?!

Muhammad Ali drove sports fans crazy with his commentary about social justice and refusal to play the role of a humble athlete. In time, Ali became an icon, the most famous person on the planet, and lit the Olympic torch at the 1996 Olympic Games, representing the USA. Is Adesanya a budding Ali for the age we live in? If so, what does that say about us?
