The UFC has long held high hopes for heavyweight Greg Hardy, who recently said that after conquering MMA, he planned to beat Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Deontay Wilder at their own game.
After I get done shutting this down, handling my MMA business, I want to venture into the boxing realm, explained Hardy at Thursday’s virtual media day, to Mike Bohn for MMA Junkie. I’m trying to holler at Dana [White]. Hopefully we can get some fights in the ZUFFA Boxing world, Top Rank, Al Haymon – somebody come holler at this dude because I definitely want to go over there and knock out ‘The Gypsy King,’ make light work of that English cat Joshua, or whatever it is, ‘Cry-baby Bomber.’ We’ll knock all those guys out, man. Of course, you know I’m going to work for it. It’s an aspiration I think will come true real fast, and I can’t wait for it.
I see a lot of hard fights, I see a lot of big-name opponents, and I look forward to working. The sky’s the limit, and it’s a beautiful time to fight. … It never means anything to me until I win the gold. I’m hungry. I started from the bottom on purpose so I can climb back up.
However, Hardy, who recently switched teams from ATT to Hards Knocks 365/Sanford MMA, lost to Marcin Tybura via TKO at 4:31 of Round 2 at UFC on ESPN+ 42 on Saturday night.

“Gotta take my Ls like a man,” wrote Hardy on his social network. “Always have and always will. I have become a much better fighter but I am far from complete #tentoesdown this loss is deff on me, my coach’s and team are the best in the world. It’s on me to make adjustments.”
Hardy is now 2-2 with one No Contest in his last five. Tybura pushed his winning streak to four, and may enter the UFC’s top 15 rankings with the win.
