UFC on ESPN+ 31 saw so many cancelations due to COVID-19, failed weight cuts, and locusts that it ended up with just eight fights.
The standard practice in the league is to pay fighters their show money if they successfully weigh in. However, the COVID-19 global pandemic has apparently changed the convention.
After the event UFC president Dana White said, they got paid some money, but didn’t get their show money.
Ed Herman’s last reported purse was 54/54 UFC on ESPN+ 10 on May 18, 2019, in Rochester, New York. He won so it escalated to an unknown amount. And then he won again at UFC on ESPN+ 21 on November 9, 2019, in Moscow, Russia, so it escalated again.
At UFC on ESPN+ 31, after contracted opponent Gerald Meerschaert tested positive for COVID-19, Herman reports he was offered 10k.

White indicated that the small sums were holdovers until the fights could be rebooked. It’s not clear if those will be quick enough to obviate the need for a second camp, with all the attendant costs and work.
