In MMA retirement is more akin to taking a long vacation, but former champ champ Daniel Cormier is actually retired. Ever the gentleman, out of deference to his opponent, DC didn’t leave his gloves in the cage following his last fight, a loss to UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

But earlier this week Cormier made it official during his DC & Helwani podcast. And at the DWCS, Season 4, Week 5 post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White offered further proof that Cormier is actually, really, fully retired from fighting.

He told us today to take him out of USADA and take him out of the rankings, said White. Doesn’t get any more official than that.

Once removed from the USADA testing pool, and fighter has to return from six months before being eligible to compete again.

In excellent news, on Tuesday Cormier, 41, resumed his role as color commentator for the first time since the Miocic trilogy fight.

I had such a great time with him, but he’s such a great commentator, so, he’ll still be around and he’ll be with this company forever,” said White. “So it’s not like we’re losing him and I’ll never see him again.
