Early in January, before 2020 was 2020, UFC president Dana White said he and Floyd Mayweather Jr were working on a co-promotion.
We have a deal, said White to Jim Rome. And if things play out the way Floyd and I think they will, I’ll probably sit down with Al Haymon in March and get a deal on paper. Let’s see how the next few months play out. We could be doing something fun, probably. I think if everything goes our way, Floyd and I would be doing something in October or November.”
White spoke recently with TMZ Sports, and the interest remains.
Floyd and I still have dialog and go back and forth, said White. We’re still interested on both sides.
I know he would rematch Conor McGregor. But I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Conor McGregor is retired. When I’m doing things right now and running business, I don’t even think about Conor. Conor is retired. As of right here now today, Conor is retired until Conor tells me differently, I’m not trying to make any fights for Conor.
The TMZ reporter didn’t buy it.
I’m just sayin’, said White, smiling. He is retired right now. He is not fighting. Per my contract with the fighters, I owe them three fights a year. If I do not deliver three fights a year I have to pay them their money. Conor McGregor is retired.
What do you think UG, is White trying to prod McGregor into returning, or does he simply not care until Conor actually returns?
