A Brief History of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson
2015: Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were scheduled to fight, but The Eagle withdrew with a rib injury.
2016: The pair were scheduled to fight, but Ferguson withdrew with a lung issue.
2017: Nurmagomedov was hospitalized while cutting weight, and the fight was off for the third time.
2018: Ferguson evens up the withdrawal race, when he tripped over cables while fulfilling media duties and tore ligaments in his knee.
2019: Someone dropped the ball, and in this year the fight was not made and then fell apart.
2020: In the most MMA of moments, the fifth scheduled fight was canceled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso for SI, UFC president Dana White was asked if the sixth time might be a charm?

Barrasso: Another main event on Fight Island is the UFC 254 marquee pitting Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov against Justin Gaethe. If Khabib punishes Gaethe in the same manner he has everyone else, will we ever see the seemingly cursed Khabib–Tony Ferguson fight?

White: If Khabib does beat Gaethe, you get Tony Ferguson another fight, which we’re working on right now. And hopefully that fight with Khabib happens because I know people want to see it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fight fall apart as many times as those two. It almost scares me to make the fight again. What’s going to happen? An asteroid comes to earth? That’s the level of bad this thing is.

White has said repeatedly that with a win, the next fight for Nurmagomedov would be a rematch vs. Conor McGregor. However, McGregor and White appear to be a stand-off, with White saying McGregor is retired, and McGregor saying he’s retired, wants to box Manny Pacquiao, and wants to do an exhibition, nudge nudge wink wink, for charity vs. Dustin Poirier. White responded to McGregor’s machinations{

This was a weird one. This was weirder and different than anything he’s done before. There’s almost a pattern here. When we’re about to do a massive fight—and Israel Adesanya broke a ton of records last week in a global, massive fight—the day before that fight, he starts announcing he’s going to fight this guy and that guy. It’s almost like stealing Adesanya’s thunder. But he does it every time there’s a big fight.

Call it UG, how likely is Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson? How much do you want to see it? And who wins?
