The Erikson vs Severn thread got me thinking about some of Werdum’s incredible sub wins:
•Werdum is the only fighter to ever submit Cain in 17 fights.
•Werdum is the only fighter to ever submit Overeem in his 64 fights.
•Werdum is the only fighter to ever submit Fedor in his 45 fights.
•Werdum is the second of two fighters to ever submit Erikson in 13 fights.
•Werdum is the second of three fighters to ever submit Aleks Emelianenko (Barnett was first, Monson third) in 35 fights.
•Werdum is the second of two fighters to ever submit Big Nog (Mir was first) in his 44 fights.

So in 218 fights, those elite heavyweights were submitted around 4.5% of the time, and Werdum is the reason for the sub 60% of the time despite the fact they fought more than 200 other fighters. If you remove Werdum then those six fighters were only subbed 1.8% of the time they fought.
