Carlos Condit, one of the most consistently exciting fighters on the UFC roster, lost a Fight of the Night Split Decision to Robbie Lawler for the UFC welterweight championship, at UFC 195 on January 2, 2016. And he lost the next four in a row, three by submission. Condit discussed the possibility of retirement on a number of occasions, but fought on, and on the undercard of UFC on ESPN 16 on Saturday night, “The Natural Born Killer” decisioned Court McGee. it was his first win in five years.
At the post-fight press conference, Carlos Condit said he’s still all in.
Competing at this level for a long period of time, you’re going to have wins and losses. I’m still about it. I still have fire in my gut, said Condit, as transcribed by Tristen Critchfield for Sherdog. This fits right into the craziness of 2020 for me. It’s been a while since I’ve had a win. I haven’t fought in almost two years. It feels really good.
I love this. I love what I do—win or lose. I’m a competitor. I come here to show up and get my hand raised.
Condit started slowly, but as Round 1 closed, he shifted brilliantly and broke McGee’s nose with a right hook.

I just wanted to continue to push the pace, said Condit. I saw that his nose looked like a boomerang. So I was going to try and target that more. Court stood up and I don’t think he knew exactly what happened. I think he thought the fight was over.
Part of [the game plan] was to fight long southpaw. For whatever reason, Court didn’t shoot much. He’s got a really good wrestling game. He’s really good at pushing guys up against the fence and grinding them out. I think that threw him off. He wasn’t able to shoot very much.
And now Condit is fully back in the game. UG, who do you want to see “The Natural Born Killer” fight next?
