His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa: “It’s aimed to maintain the culture of giving towards disabled people …”

Bahrain’s Mohammed Buhaz’a was born with Down syndrome (DS) the genetic disorder typically associated with physical growth delays and mild to moderate intellectual disability. He has a dream to compete in MMA, and was offered the opportunity to train at KHK MMA Bahrain.
That dream will be realized, and it will kickstart Brave International Combat Week 2018, on November 11. Buhaz’a will take part in a sparring session with His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The session will be part of KHK Heroes, the latest initiative under the vision of His Highness, which seeks to support the underprivileged as well as those with special needs. KHK Heroes will be a major project in the interests of justice and equality, identifying and applauding the contributions of challenged and often forgotten members of society.
“It’s a great joy for us that this initiative has finally seen the light,” explained the Sheikh. “It’s aimed to maintain the culture of giving towards disabled people and help them practice their life normally as this will contribute to blending them in the society so they can be part of the developmental process in various sectors. … Disabled people are an integral part of our Bahraini society and everyone has to participate in embracing them and supporting them to provide them with an environment that allows them to unleash their creativities and abilities.”
Brave International Combat Week 2018, which is host to the IMMAF-WMMAA Unified World Championships 2018, is the largest combat sports event held in Asia, as athletes from over 100 nations converge on the Khalifa Sports City Arean in Bahrain for a week of exhibitions and competition, capped by Brave Combat Federation 18 on November 16, with three belts on the line.
