At UFC on ESPN+ 42 on Saturday, Deron Winn, fighting at a 195 catchweight, took some big shots from Antonio Arroyo in Round 1, but used his wrestling to take the final two rounds, earning a Unanimous Decision. UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping is a commentator not a propagandist, and said he thought Winn needed better cardio, and was undersized for middleweight.

Winn was not impressed.

Bisping once worked in a barbecue factory and a slaughterhouse; he worked as an upholsterer, a postman, a plasterer, a door salesman, and a DJ. Today he has a number of investments including a UFC Gym chain, a successful podcast, has acted in several movies and TV shows including xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Triple Threat, My Name is Lenny, and Den of Thieves, and he serves as a studio analyst. Further, he had a knee replaced last year, and has a prosthetic eyeball thanks to a kick from TRT Era Vitor Belfort.

$2,000 bucks for a takedown contest is not a compelling proposal, as he gently explained.

Winn simmered down.

But Bisping’s son Callum had been referenced, so added his two pence. He was a two-time California state qualifier, wons states for Greco, and wrestles for San Francisco State.

Winn snapped a two-fight losing streak on Saturday. He was submitted by Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 248 on March 7, 2020 and tested positive for amphetamines, earning a nine-month suspension. The previous fight he dropped a Split Decision to Darren Stewart, having missed weight. Winn got into the UFC with a win over Tom Lawlor at Golden Boy’s Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz 3 at light heavyweight, and debuted in the UFC with a mighty Fight of the Night decision win over Eric Spicely.
