Last year, Bellator’s light heavyweight division took an important leap forward. Vadim Nemkov established himself as a rising star in becoming the division’s champion and a new face for Bellator in Russia. The organization also bolstered a thin 205-pound roster with major free-agent acquisitions from Ultimate Fighting Championship. It’s going to be a big year for Bellator’s light heavyweights. With that in mind, I’ve got Bellator fight demand for their 2021 schedule.

Bellator dream fights: Anthony Johnson vs. Corey Anderson

Corey Anderson and Anthony Johnson had very different careers in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Johnson was an absolute wrecking ball. Hitting reset buttons on 11 foes during his time in the company. On the flip side, while Anderson was no Mike Tyson clone, he put in work winning 10 of 15 in the Octagon. Including a victory over current UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz.

The narratives on their tenures are also as different as the stats they put up. Rumble was an obvious favorite of UFC President Dana White and marketed as a machine of destruction. While Overtime was openly disgruntled in his final years. Often feeling overlooked and disrespected.

Yet their stories merge at the end of their UFC stays. With both feeling life would be better elsewhere. Then asking for, and being granted their release. They will now join several other UFC heavy-hitter talents that chose to take their talents to Coker-landia. Those being former Bellator light heavyweight champions Ryan Bader and Phil Davis. Along with Cuban dynamo and two-time UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero. Anderson versus Johnson is the perfect way to begin Bellator’s talent-filled Ex-UFC Employee Grand Prix.”

Who would win?

But jokes aside, over the last decade there haven’t been many times to be excited about a Bellator light heavyweight fight. This is it and could be the perfect opportunity for Anderson to elevate himself in a way he hasn’t before. I think he would do by bringing ground and pound thunder to Mr. Johnson.
