Before the UFC came along, within the martial arts world, there was always a question as to which martial arts was the supreme, most effective, and best.

In China, the terms Kung fu, Gong fu or wushu had become synonymous with their hundreds of forms of martial arts. Historically, there have been records showing that martial arts and self-defense techniques have been around in China for centuries if not longer.

Through their portrayal in films and the iconic actor Bruce Lee, Chinese martial arts has been seen as one of the most bad ass forms of martial arts. Loud screams, fast punches, snapping kicks, and sometimes…they even fly.

But all of that was erased when Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began to emerge. Synonymous with the Gracies, there have been many practitioners of the grappling art form.

Prior to the UFC’s popularity, there also have been a handful of videos that surfaced with the Gracies being challenged and then easily devouring their opponents.

This video may not be a Gracie video, but it’s another example how easily these uninformed and untrained Kung fu masters were effortlessly taken out by someone with any form of grappling experience.

As the two square off, the Kung fu master rushes to kick but his opponent throws an inside leg kick that makes him lose his balance. As he begins to trip, the Kung fu master’s opponent quickly takes him down. As he gets on top, he moves to side mount. Here, you can see where no experience on the ground begins to show itself. The kung fu master’s legs begin to flail in the air and make nonsensical crab like movements. Maybe he was a practitioner of the crab style.

Eventually, the BJJ practitioner applies heavy top position and almost snaps the Kung Fu practitioner’s arm off with a Kimura.
