Every man and woman who dares to enter the world of combat sports deserves a certain degree of respect simply for having the courage and wherewithal to enter the cage or ring. Unfortunately, there are many times in which a combat sports competitor need not spend more than a minute engaged in their competition of choice before nearly all those in attendance and watching at home shake their head in disbelief at what they are witnessing.

Behold, for this is one of those times.

In this video, from parts unknown, we see a self-described karate expert by the name of Ryan Grubb take on a florist who trains no holds barred fighting by the name of Shane Doucette.

Before the match begins, the tension in the air is palpable, and Doucette’s excitement is such that he almost takes out a ring card girl while bouncing off the ropes and loosening up.

The bell rings and each man takes a stance that indicates they are likely untrained in the sweet science of boxing. Doucette charges at Grubb, and secures a body lock, which is not a path to victory in the boxing ring and garners Doucette a warning from the referee.

As the action resumes, Grubb begins flailing strikes at Doucette, whose only defensive techniques are bending over at the waist while covering up, running, and turning his back on Grubb. This proves ineffective, as Doucette is left bloodied and the match is mercifully called to a stop, awarding the winner by doctor stoppage, Ryan Grubb.
