This is the first video backyard knuckle boxing video of Kimbo Slice that appeared on the internet and launched him into a viral sensation.

At the time, Slice (Kevin Ferguson) was a bodyguard and security for a pornography company and was fighting bare knuckle boxing to make extra cash on the streets of Miami. In his first fight, he fought a man simply known as ‘Big D’ and left a huge cut on his eye, which made fans starting calling him Slice. Kimbo was his already popular childhood nickname.

The fights were released on Sublime Directory and YouTube. This fight was listed as the ‘main event’ featuring 6’2″ 260 pound Slice versus 6’1″ 270 pound Big D.

The clip starts with the two men squared off in the backyard. The two immediately come at each other with Kimbo landing some serious shots in the beginning knocking ‘Big D’ off balance. After another quick exchange Slice shoves Big D to the ground.

Next Kimbo puts his hands down and let’s his opponent hit him. This was a huge part of building his legend. ‘Big D’ hits him hard, but Slice seems un-phased.

The two start another wild exchange in which Kimbo lands a huge hook after slipping a punch that drops ‘Big D’. At this point he asks Kimbo to ‘chill dawg’ and tries to slow down the pace. The two break for a bit, but agree to continue the fight.

The two exchange some and famously stop after the action has them on either side of a satellite dish attached to a pole in the ground. After this point the fight ends as ‘Big D’ is bleeding from a cut either caused by one of Slice’s punches or perhaps running into a piece of metal off the satellite dish.

Kimbo and his opponent meet again in front of the house and exchange pleasantries. It’s here that the damage done to ‘Big D’s eye is visible for the first time:
