In the world of combat sports, who is it that punches harder, men or women? Although it is a simple question to ask, the answer is a bit more involved than one may think.

In this edition of Sports Science, host John Brenkus and the crew set out to see if the term ‘You hit like a girl’ has any kind of validity and settle the debate once and for all.

To help conduct this experiment, Sports Science brought in undefeated female boxing legend Lucia Rijker and matched her up against Olympic boxer Moe Ganyu; who are both the same height and weight so they could compare their punching power, not on a heavy bag but on a human target (with MMA heavyweight Julian Rush taking the role).

The setup was simple, Julian Rush agreed to be blind folded for the test while Moe Ganyu and Lucia Rijker each takes turns punching Julian Rush at full force after a countdown from the Sports Science team. From there Rush would then have to determine who had the harder punch regardless of the gender that was throwing it.

Who will win this battle of the sexes? Watch the experiment unfold below.
