Much maligned German movie director Uwe Boll once became so angry at outspoken journalists who criticized his work that he offered to challenge them to fight him in the boxing ring.
Boll has directed over 30 movies over the course of his career and has specialized in horror movies as well as converting popular gaming franchises like ‘Alone In The Dark’, ‘Far Cry’, ‘Postal’, ‘Blood Rayne’ and ‘Dungeon Siege,’ to the big screen.
The thing all is movies have in common is that they have been widely panned by the critics, with Boll even frequently having been branded as, ‘The Worst Director In The World.’
In June of 2006, Boll, finally snapped and in a press release, the 41-year-old former amateur boxer stated he would fly up to five writers to Vancouver to fight him in a single night, providing they had been critical of his work at least twice in the past year and weighed between 140-191lbs.

In the end, four of the 5ft 9, 165lb Boll’s fiercest critics agreed to take his challenge, which would see their fights aired live online and included on the DVD of the director’s next movie, ‘Postal.’
First to step into the ring with ‘Raging Boll’ was the 6ft 1″, 155lb Richard ‘Lowtax’ Kyanka, CEO of the ‘Something Awful’ website and it soon became apparent that the director wasn’t playing as he dropped his opponent multiple times with hard right hands in the opening two minutes, before the fight was waved off.
Next up was Jeff Sneider from ‘Ain’t it Cool News’, standing 5ft 9″ and 170lbs, who fell victim to Boll’s straight right hand once in the first round and twice in the second, before his corner threw in the towel. Sneider would later throw up backstage while being treated by paramedics.
After an intermission it was the 5ft 11″, 180lb Chris Alexander of horror movie site ‘Rue Morgue’s’ turn, and he fared no better than his peers, being rocked, bloodied up and floored on several occasions before the finish midway through the second round.
Finally, Boll locked horns with the 17-year-old Chance Minter, a 5ft 7″, 155lb web critic who also happened to have six months boxing training under his belt.
“>
Minter started working behind the jab, but it wasn’t long before Boll was putting together combinations, including some ripping body shots, and one of those was enough to render the younger fighter unable to continue just a few minutes into the bout.
I now like the critics, Boll claimed at the post-fight press conference after having demolished all four of them. Everybody who was in the ring showed guts. Nobody died.”
