This style vs style clash pits Japanese boxing champion Kazuhisa Watanabe against a Tae Kwon Do (TKD) practitioner named Jung Chang Hyun.
The contest begins with both men being very patient and feeling each other out. It takes place in neither a ring or cage, but a raised open platform similar to a sumo type circle. Perhaps some barriers would come in handy though as both fighters seem to have a hard time staying in bounds.

Watanabe, the boxer, has his way with the TKD practitioner in this one, being the clear aggressor and landing the effective shots. Surprisingly enough the TKD fighter looks to grab a hold of his opponent early on and tie him up, which isn’t something you normally see from TKD-based fighters.
Chang Hyun lands his best strikes shortly after the two-minute mark, unloading with a series of fast and hard kicks. Watanabe stays out of trouble and responds with a flurry of punches with send his opponent out of the ring.
The difference in styles starts to become more apparent as the match goes on. The Tae Kwon Do fighter looks good on the outside keeping his opponent at a distance with kicks. But as soon as the boxer closes the distance, the TKD practitioner has trouble defending against his punches.

It starts to get ugly toward the end, with the boxer Watanabe starting to tee off and his opponent doesn’t seem to have much answer. The contest comes to an end just before the four-minute mark when the TKD fighter, who’s clearly had enough, shoots in on his opponent for a takedown, which is clearly out of his element. Watanabe pours it on and delivers some brutal ground and pound and knees to his turtled up opponent’s body and the ref finally calls it.
