What would happen if one of the world’s strongest men stepped out of the weight room and into the boxing ring?
Standing at 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighing over 400 lbs, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson’s incredible feats of strength seemingly have no bounds. A multiple time world’s strongest man competitor in Europe his most notable achievements include breaking a 1000 year old Viking strength record of carrying a 1400lb ship sail on ones back, deadlifting a tyre weight of almost 1000lbs, holding the Guinness World Record for keg tossing the most famous of all; exploding the skull of Oberyn Martell with his bare hands in Game of Thrones.

In the following video he laced up the 16 oz gloves against an unnamed opponent for a few rounds.
Though it is not the most technical affair, Hafþór does display some natural power against his opponent, finding his against the ropes and inside the clinch where he’s able to muscle his opponent and unload power shots. The downside was quite obvious in his head movement and his sheer size making it difficult to evade shots in the pocket and sapping his gas tank.
Could he be the next great heavyweight in combat sports? If he decides to make a switch like his fellow strongman competitor Mariuz Pudzianowski, then perhaps Rizin could book him on their next card against the likes of Fedor Emelianenko.
