Today a rumor surfaced that Cris Cyborg will be returning to the UFC Octagon this September when the promotion returns to her home country of Brazil. No official word has been made by the UFC or Cyborg herself, but the Brazilian website UOL has reported the fight is being put together.
Cyborg is without argument the most dominant female featherweight in the history of women’s mixed martial arts. She won her UFC debut this past spring defeating Leslie Smith by first round TKO. Cyborg is 15-1 in her professional MMA career, with her sole loss being in her pro debut in 2005. That’s over a decade of being undefeated.
Cyborg has wowed fans in some of her videos, including video of her picking up and slamming former UFC champion Tito Ortiz.
In a new video released today, Cyborg is shown sparring with a male partner, Nick Lauro. It is course just sparring, but is impressive none the less. It is not Lauro taking it easy on Cyborg because of her gender:
