Bare knuckle boxing is a big part of the Irish traveler culture and is used as a way to avoid a conflict from escalating too far before it can even get to that point. Though punching someone in the face bare knuckle may seem not seem like a very peaceful way to settle a dispute, it oftentimes ends with a handshake like we see here in this YouTube video.

Though the feud is still quite heated when its over, with the winner screaming into the loser’s face, the pair do end up shaking hands and sharing a few nice words when it’s finally over so it appears whatever beef they had is squashed using this method settling things.

As far as the fight goes, it is almost 10 minutes in length which is quite long for one of these. Most bare knuckle fights end decisively quite quickly but sometimes they turn into much longer wars of attrition like we see here in this video.

Throughout most of the fight, both men are quite cautious to start out. It is hard to tell who has the technical edge as both men keep their guard up high and are using good movement as well as not doing anything stupid like you so often see in these type of fights. All it takes is just one mistake in a bare knuckle match and the next thing you know you are on your back asking what happened.

About 7 minutes into the video the action starts to heat up quite substantially. You can see one guy has a large cut above his eye too. His opponent, sensing something begins to pour it on, landing an awesome combination that ends with a liver shot which drops his opponent.

His opponent, hanging tough gets back to feet though just briefly before taking further punishment and the organizers finally call it off.
