While many consider them more sports than martial arts both boxing and kickboxing (particularly muay thai) are probably the most effective striking based martial arts out there.
That’s not to say that certain traditional martial arts out there don’t have some good striking techniques of their own. However, in sport based martial arts like boxing and kickboxing you find out pretty quickly what works and what does not. That is because both in training and competition you are trying to defeat someone who is also trying to defeat you.
In this YouTube video we see a boxer taking on a brawler in a bare knuckle fight and they are actually pretty evenly matched.

While neither guy is quite at the professional level, both are tough and definitely know how to fight. They both pace themselves well and know how to hit as well as how to not get hit which is equally as important.
Early on in this bare knuckle match it appears that the shorter man with the tattoos is going to win. He lands some great shots on the inside then moves out of his opponents longer punching range.
The taller man remains patient though and presses the action. He also knows how to properly cover up and minimize the damage of his opponent’s barrage.
Around the four minute and thirty second mark the taller man’s patience begins to pay off when he lands a beautiful counter right hand that puts his opponent down and starts to swing the momentum in his favor now.

Being dropped doesn’t seem to phase him though as when he gets back he charges at his opponent and opens him up with a series of wild haymakers.
The taller man shows his experience by remaining calm then landing a great one, two punch combination that puts his dazed opponent down for good and ends this entertaining scrap.
