Backyard wrestling champ called out on 50-0 claim by BJJ black belt!

Two guys met BJJ black belt Robert Lovi at a party. When they heard he ran a Jiu-Jitsu academy, they told him that they’ve been competing in underground wrestling and street fighting for years.

One of the guys claimed to be an undefeated fighter in San Diego, with a record of 50-0. He said that he could bench press 300 pounds and could take a BJJ black belt.

Robert took up the challenge if they’d allow it to be video-taped. No problem. And so began the unofficial Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Challenge 2009 in San Diego – just like the old days. They came to the academy on April 14, borrowed some gis and white belts, and hit the mats.

The guys were cool, and the grappling was all in good spirits. This video was made all in good fun.

So who will win? Seasoned street wrestler and die-hard UFC fan or a black belt under 7th degree Red-Black Belt Pedro Sauer? [source : youtube video description]

“Robert Lovi has dedicated his life to the study and teaching of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He earned all of his belts from 7th degree Red-Black Belt Pedro Sauer.” Mr. Sauer studied under Rickson and Helio Gracie. Master Lovi is sought after by academies around the world. He is known for his highly technical Jiu-Jitsu that emphasizes proper technique over power.

“Robert Lovi has been training under my tutelage for over a decade and I can affirm that he has been through the program and has passed, exhibiting great discipline and technique.

I can endorse Rob’s work with anyone interested in learning the “real Gracie Jiu-Jitsu” method. Anyone training under Robert Lovi is going to learn the real deal. Rob – All the best. I’m proud of you,” said Professor Pedro Sauer. [source : newsblaze.com]
