Jiu-Jitsu classes for children aims to improve concentration, provide self-esteem, and discipline. More than just combative techniques and martial arts positions, this sport seeks to strengthen the bond between parents and their children, build character and allow the child to reach adolescence with moral principles already formed.

Practicing Jiu-Jitsu in early ages goes beyond achievements on the mat. The discipline and excellence demanded by the classes often reflects positively on the behavior of the child at home and school.

In this video, two kids start to fight, one of them takes it to the ground, but the other one passes the leg over his shoulder, twists the hips, locks the arm and gets a well-executed belly down armbar.

An armbar is an armlock that hyperextends the elbow joint. Depending on the joint flexibility of a person, armlocks that hyper-rotate the shoulder joint can also hyper-rotate the elbow joint, and vice versa.

However, the kid who had his arm locked starts to cry, asks his opponent to stop, but he does not let him go right away.

The training of this technique is done by adjusting the position slowly and in a controlled way to give time for the opponent to tap before any imposition of injury, because when applied improperly or with excessive force, the armbar can damage muscle, tendons and ligaments.

In that case, when applied violently or in continuous repetition, the armbar can lead to an injury that usually occurs on the elbow joint; furthermore, it can decrease the range of motion on that arm, causing uncomfortable pain.

Clearly, the boy had some jiu jitsu experience and those who train kids must be persistent about teaching the importance of respect for the opponent so that they may never act beyond the partner’s physical limits.
